Universal of Treasurer Karol Sedlnicki to the land elders of Greater Poland

Under the threat of the imposition of a double tax rate and after arranging a general tariff at the Council of the Four Lands in Jarosław (26 October 1753), Grand Crown Treasurer Karol Odrowąż Sedlnicki orders the land elders of Greater Poland to go to Pyzdry on 15 January 1754 to arrange the general allocation (sympla) and the allocation for the city of Poznań and Poznań poviat. He also orders them, with the assistance of the tax commissioner, to calculate and separate from each other the debts attributable to the Crown Jews from the debts owed to the land. He also establishes the method for choosing appraisers (communities paying more than 1000 zlotys tax will be entitled to one appraiser ex officio; communities paying less will select appraisers from among themselves by lot).
